Of course they are unreliable. They are old and their owners have been told for a decade that they aren't wanted.
So why would those owners pay good money to keep them in world-class condition?
And if it is the case that coal plants are threatening the grid, why don't they just get shut down right now?
Then all the grid problems would be sorted, right?
