Without thinking too hard, it seems for the last 10 years or so the incidence and locations of severe weather related events has been on the rise … fires, floods, droughts, and possibly hurricanes.
I suspect a portion of these events occur in places not previously recording such events or where such events are extremely rare.
A global index of severe weather events going back as far as researchers could take it might shed light on this discussion.
