"Around" is perfectly fine language to use in both a scientific and mathematical context.
All scientific measurements and calculations should be presented with error bars, because quite frankly, reality is messy.
All IPCC data I've seen is presented with error bars, and the word "around" is precisely the type of language that should be used to discuss their measurements and predictions.
On the contrary, you should see red flags when you hear a person say a scientific measurement is exactly a number, because they are probably not a scientist, probably not very smart, and it implies they don't understand precision or accuracy or even the difference between the two.
