To be fair to labour they tried to start making changes 2 elections back but they lost due to the self-interest of those already owning homes or about to that are quite happy to parasitise the young with excessive rents compared to the Youngs income.
The fact that one or two generations are parasitising the young should get more press. Addressing this inequality is the fix. It can only be fixed with restrictions on lending that used to exist back when one wage could buy a modest home readily. Those restrictions were taken away. It is that simple as people borrow the limit and those limits are what sets house prices. To be clear borrowing limits should be set on one income of the household and not both when there is more than one income.
