if only it were so simple...
Problem is water is heavy, very heavy. It costs alot to pump it over any distance... so much so that it is cheaper to de-salinate sea water locally than it is to pump water from 400km away. So, all this talk of pumping from the north is dumb. Unless you believe that it is all downhill from north to south, in which case I own this big bridge in Sydney I would like to sell you, cheap.
