The worst position an individual can be is dependent on the government. And therein lies the problem. The state government wants people to be dependent on them. If that doesn't tell you enough then you're beyond reason.

its easy for those who don't have their income affected by lockdowns and government incompetence to scream for 0 cases, lockdowns etc but ever tried thinking for a bit beyond your own individual circumstances and being able to comprehend what is at stake
