Hmm. On the surface this looks like a pretty good announcement. However in some ways it can actually be seen as supporting the idea that the drug doesn't work.
Why?
Well, if weight rebounded in general across most patients, then that's a good indication that the drug actually did cause the weight loss.
If their weight didn't change after the treatment though, this does lend support to the idea that (and as is strongly indicated by the data) the people who lost weight lost it naturally, due to the unpredictable variances of the human body.
It's a pretty outlandish idea, but not entirely unreasonable. I certainly hope this turns into a blockbuster drug, but with the road ahead far from clear I'd prefer not being a part of this journey.
