There is more than one side to this story. There always is, not so?
The one side is to take the story literally - in my view it is practically impossible to believe and should be rated for mature audiences only as the blood and guts of the angry God is bound to be bad for kindergarten kids.
The other side is to take the story figuratively - there are many of these versions one of which I think is rather quaint for Christians even if it does require a good dollop of fairy dust.
