I don't know if a BOP malfunction would only be noticed if there was flow (though I suspect it's not quite that easy - surely for such a critical safety item you'd want to be able to check it's functionality under ANY circumstances?) but the timing implication is interesting.

The original 60-90 days drill schedule ran to approx 11/1. If you assume that whole extra 46 days was not planned, that'd take completion through to 26/2 i.e. last week. So, barring other problems, by now (buy now?) we should be VERY close to completion. I know we've thought this before. One day we'll be correct.

Kudos to Business8 for his comments a while back about there being a major mechanical problem in the drill.
