Robodebt is a sad case study in how those in power can corrupt a system and mold it into a likeness of the worst in themselves.

    But what was the motivation?

Was it cost saving? It ended up costing the Government/us money and there may be more costs to come through class actions.

Was the motivation not so much cost saving but revenue generation? Yes, it's a fine point but go with me here. If you are looking for revenue to,say, improve your financial postition, why would you look for it where people have shallow pockets, surely you would look for revenue where the potential for generating it is, not where it isn't. So if the Robodebt was seen as either a cost saving or a revenue raising measure it was poorly thought out and nonsensical.

So if we really don't have a rational motivation for the scheme then we have every right to know the real motivation. Was the entire Robodebt scheme devised just to appease a very narrow portion of the population that Morrison thought such a scheme would please. Was it all about politics, a political lynching of the most vulnerable in our community for some cheap headlines that came at great expense. Just what was the calculation that Morrison made with his Robodebt scheme?

Or, is it that no matter how hard to try to understand somebodies rationale you just can't find a rational thought process if people are not being rational to start with.

So, is Morrison going to use the "Temporary Insanity Defence" next?
