Ah, but all the information that the scheme demanded from those that were being chased for the unlawful debts was already in the system. There in lies the insanity of the process the Liberals put in place. It was impractical and burdensome for those that had already provided the information once and no longer had the information to supply. It was designed as a deliberately nasty scheme from the outset to hound people who's only shortcoming was to have need of welfare at a low point in there lives and punish them for it. Those that truly needed welfare were the very people they mercilessly hounded.

Oh yeh, no wonder Morrison saw merit in the scheme. The welfare recipients were aliens to Morrison, so he didn't have a problem with the major shortcomings of the scheme and was happy to have Robodebt loopholed into existance and keep it going despite the numerous red flags.

Nothing stopped Morrison from asking questions with regard to the lawfulness of the scheme but his own desire to make it a reality regardless of the downside, because he reckoned that the downside belonged to someone else. To put it bluntly, it was very poor risk management and showed bankrupcy to put such a scheme into operation in the first place. I have no doubt all was aided and abetted by the culture the Liberals worked hard to put in place in the Public Service. The very Public Service that will have to be rebuilt after the years of having it's capacity eroded during the Coalitions time in Government.
