The advantages that fully electric cars bring to society are well documented and promoted.
It is conveniently overlooked however, that fully electric vehicles, as they are now, would present a major problem for governments and society.
It is well known that currently fully electric vehicles are much heavier than the petrol driven equivalents. The weight disadvantage obviously varies with the size of the vehicle, but can be any where from 300 kgs to over 1000kgs.
Herein lies they fundamental problem with the current technology EV's being introduced to our roads.
The additional weight of the vehicles will have much greater wear and tear on our road infrastructure and add significantly to the ongoing cost of maintenance. In Australia maintenance of our road infrastructure is already a large and growing expense.
Also, in cities the high rise parking stations, that are critical to vehicle management, could be structurally compromised, as they were simply not designed to carry the additional weights of a building full of EVs.
I am sure that Governments are quietly aware of this potential problem and accordingly desperate to find solutions.
It is well understood that current battery technology used in EVs is the major problem. They are simply too heavy to provide the driving range that is required as a minimum.
This is where I believe ADO’s energy storage technology has been recognised, by our current Government at least, as a world class solution to this major problem.
They technology is not disruptive and can provide current battery production facilities the ability to produce much lighter automotive batteries, with the added bonus of increased range.
This is why, when the current funding legislation promoting technology for new energy storage solutions is released, I strongly believe ADO will be and should be, very well supported.
Some posters have put forward some strong opinions regarding the “appropriateness” of Governments funding private enterprise.
I fully acknowledge their right and substance to this opinion, however it's a fact that Democratic governments world wide, have always funded private enterprises through a wide variety of development and support funding programs.
I could even suggest that Australia has lagged in this area compared to other Western economies and the loss of our Automotive industry is a good example of this.
This is and should probably be left as a topic for other forums.
Finally, whist the current share price is more than disappointing and again, in my opinion only, the market information and share holder communication from the new management somewhat lacking, I strongly believe that our patience will be rewarded and our technology appropriately commercialised.
