"The Governor of Georgia is not a scientist or engineer, is he?"  No, if he was a scientist or engineer he probably wouldn't be the Governor.  He's in the business of politics, and while we often like to deride politicians we actually need them.  Don't underestimate the achievement of not only getting the Governor on-side but actually garnering his support.

"Politics and science rarely mix." True, they are opposed on many levels, but politics and industry often go hand in hand.  It is very much a case of 'scratching each other's back.'

Frankly I don't care if Eden are at the forefront of their science or not.  As far as I'm aware they are at the forefront of commercialising their product and in terms of making money that first mover advantage is huge.  Are you aware of any other company this close to bringing their product to market?  If you are please share.  I'm sure 'science' will develop a better product in the future, but it may be 5, 10 or 20 years away.  I don't know and neither do you.  I do know that if I don't take the opportunity to profit now someone else will.  This is the stock market not a pure science venture.
