"Free App‐to‐App update: Norwood is now conducting internal beta tests on Free App‐to‐App high‐quality calling, which will allow World Phone users to call other World Phone users directly, without charge, while delivering a very high‐quality user experience. Norwood expects that this new feature will further increase App usage, which will in turn drive user engagement, retention and revenue. Expected launch for this feature is mid‐November on iOS, with Android to be incorporated from launch.
Free App‐to‐App calling will utilise the latest high quality open source codecs, or voice compression software, to provide the highest quality with reasonable bandwidth use. Calls to contacts without the World Phone App will continue to use Norwood’s award winning and growing network of “shared economy” telecommunications assets, with partners such as TNZI, part of the MNF group."
