Okay, no advertising, you say. Not the whole story: I've heard that ZIP appear to have been using an "exotic" customer acquisition technique, called incentive networks, where the users are actually *paid* some kind of incentive to download their app! If the users are not downloading the app for intrinsic reasons, I wonder what quality their customer base ends up having over time? Me, I run away, seeing that approach.

Just checked ZIP's rankings for their iPhone app on appannie.com and they are nowhere - absolutely nowhere - on iTunes. The difference with NOR could not be starker IMO.
