I guess the issue really is how much does a premium on Dy etc hurt the cost structure. Are ROW consumers able to afford to ignore China if they have access to good quality and LT supply substrate needed. What is the overall cost wrt REE etc per item that uses REE generally.
Sadly I am not a manufacturer of all things that consume REE,HREE,Dy etc.
I cant imagine that REE costs in a large flat screen even if increased by 50% would add much to cost structure. It would be the ability to assure even, non politicized supply within a reasonable cost structure that would be attractive. Not to mention the ability to keep industry in country especially from Govt point of view not to mention preservation of industrial secrets. Hence a a need to lock in LT contracts where possible with producers.
NTU may have the goods but will need to move and access/appease the consumers needs..as does anyone who doesnt like sleeping on park benches.
