I have been wondering the same thing. It's not like they're backed up by assets is it? It's not like they wont be able to pay their staff with all the other profits. It's so incestual, why involve the govt now when they werent involved in creating this monster. It's total BS. Berkshire Hathaway was involved in CDS but only where they could actually cover it from the wikipedia article on Credit Default Swaps under the controversy heading.
