N-w Vic could get another solar power project
A second major solar power project has been proposed for north-west Victoria.
The planned $420 million solar power station could power 40,000 homes and create hundreds of local construction jobs.
Melbourne-based Solar Systems and aviation company Boeing are behind the project.
Solar Systems managing director Dave Holland says the project will use completely different technology to the proposed solar tower in south-west New South Wales.
"[It will use] literally space technology that was used for powering satellites and Mars landing gear and things like that," he said.
"We have found a way to take that technology and use it for terrestrial-based applications by concentrating the sun many times."
