Yes, there's allegedly no suitable similar-sized replacement for these SAAB aircraft.
We never hear about what REX is going to do about this. Granted, it may be able to cannibalise some in the fleet to use as parts but beyond that - what?
However QAN has major issues that are far more costly to fix: as UBS says in this morning's 'AFR', QAN may have to spend A$12 billion over five years on fleet renewal. However that will still leave QAN with a lot of increasingly elderly aircraft.
