Well with all this negativity, here is a glimpse of sunshine - the cross-border cooperation between Germany (Saxony) and Czech (Cinovec) are executing the recently signed memorandum on collaboration.
The workshop (details linked below) was aimed at satisfying the conditions of the memorandum and establishing channels for collaboration to develop the Li mining projects on both sides. What is interesting that there was a mix of federal, local and developer stakeholders (Zinnn and Geomet) in attendance:
"October 24, 2023A Czech-German workshop focusing on lithium exploration and mining took place on October 16, 2023 at the Czech Geological Survey (ČGS) in Prague. The Czech side was represented by specialists from ČGS, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, ČEZ and Geomet. The German side was represented by delegates from the Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection, the Saxon Ministry of Economy, Labor and Transport, the Saxon Mining Office and representatives of AMG Lithium GmbH and Zinnwald Lithium."
"Both parties agreed that both projects definitely have a great possibility of synergy (it is de facto one deposit divided by a state border) – same type of deposit, same raw material, similar deposit, similar composition, etc. and mutual exchange of information is the least that can be done within possible cooperation to do. This cooperation received a new impetus after the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and the Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer signed a memorandum on cooperation in the implementation of projects of strategic importance in May 2023. The seminar can therefore be considered the first real step in fulfilling the memorandum. In the memorandum, the Czech Republic and Saxony agreed on cooperation regarding the strengthening of raw material, energy and fuel security and self-sufficiency, cooperation in the field of science and research and strengthening cross-border cooperation in climate protection, reducing emissions and cooperation in the transformation of industry and obtaining strategic raw materials, especially lithium from deposits on the Saxon and Czech sides."
