Well I believe the 'sizable common good' that is associated with the Dukla-Cinovec development cannot be understated, Czech Gov has it as a key feature of their office time and of the economic recovery path to combat economic stagnation and recession.I do agree, it is hard to weigh up economics against sentimental value. Well it is not hard, it is near-impossible. People that are being displaced may not want to accept the settlement terms at all. However, let's remember that those 17 houses are not in the 'line of fire' or are required to be removed, they are just the stakeholder parties that are concerned that they will be impacted by noise and dust increases (assumptions on both accounts).They (17 houses) are on the municipal planning boundary between 'residential-use only' areas and 'industrial estate/mixed use' land. CEZ or Czech Gov are not breaking any laws, CEZ/Geomet are just aiming to satisfy the concerns of the local residents. The industrial estate delegation of land use does exactly that - supports industrial activity. If you have purchased land under the assumption that industrial land will not be used as per its nominated usage - well that is the buyers own fault (and likely why those houses were more affordable in the first place).Every project gets challenged by those that represent impacted parties (residents, environment, recreation) , but it must be remembered that unfounded concerns of a select few shall not impact the greater good of the majority.
