I think the reason why EMH coasts the down periods well is due to investors not being concerned that their money is locked up in a low liquidity stock at the time when higher liquidity tickers have significant up and down swings. However, when the market is pumping the funds are best allocated elsewhere to the companies that actually drive progress and update the market regularly .
