The Czech Republic is close to acquiring the Volkswagen Group's new factory for battery cells, the construction of which would cost up to 120 billion crowns, making it one of the largest investments by foreign companies in the country. The Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that it will soon find an agreement on the parameters of the investment with a potential investor, the ministry said in a statement to the E15 newspaper after Minister Jozef Síkela met with Thomas Schäfer, who manages the main concern brand Volkswagen, on Wednesday.
