On the other hand one can logically argue that you and your ilk have been arguing against the tax on the grounds that human activity is not causing global warming and that it (the tax) will do nothing to address the problem when what you are concerned about is the fact that you "missing out" financially.
Anyway the argument is unimportant. The whole purpose of the tax and the way the money will be allocated is to (1) address an urgent environmental problem and (2) to ensure that those who are most in need will still be able to heat their food and not freeze to death or die from heat exhaustion. There will only be a few lousy dollars loss for those who miss out - less than $8 a week and not much left over for those who are being compensated. We are really talking about peanut amounts.
