The market overall is down 3%, but every single spec share on my watchlist that is down is down more than this amount.

It is the nature of the beast. There are no instos to prop up a price, nor PE ratios. When they fall through market sentiment, they fall much harder as there is no fallback value in earned $$$.

So, you either see into the hysteria surrounding the market overall, or walk away from the desk. The market will fix itself when it is ready. Until then, we either put up with the heat or get out of the kitchen.
