I’ve got a cousin looking to buy at the moment, he’s mid 40’s and a carpenter by trade.
Over the years I’ve quizzed him on why he hadn’t bought a house even as a flip project?

He always said that he didn’t see any value in burdening himself with a mortgage and that he didn’t to live in a crappy suburb even for a few years.
Rental prices in the area that he liked were cheaper than mortgage repayments.
If he wanted to move he could get it done quickly.

His new wife has done what his brothers and cousins failed to do over the last 20 odd years, Inspired him to dip his toe into the market and by using his trade skills they will look for properties that lend themselves to renovating.

It takes a leap of faith for most people to commit to buying their first home or a kick in the pants from a significant other seems to be opting two

Obviously there’s always risks attached to financial commitments of this nature but there always has been and always will be.
