You're referring of course to Metex's 50% stake in Carbon Energy.
You need an understanding of what Metex actually have.
The resource they are mining is coal. Coal is made of carbon, and a bit of sulphur. Unfortunately it's a bit costly to change the atomic number of carbon to turn it into potassium or phosphorus ;-)
So they'll need to source it from somewhere else.
By the way, which fertilisers were you talking about? Metex are not very specific.
