Not surprised that BHP came out and said this. If they contemplating a takover, then the announcement may depress the price. If they are not contemplating a takeover then they are simply telling the truth.
Read an interesting announcement from Souther Gold (SAU) which is investigating the use of Hot Rocks to provide energy to both Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill.
With Olympic Dam set to consume about half of SA's current electricity generation, I wonder if SAu is a potential takeover target for either BHP or future OZL, or indeed a future joint infrastructure project.
Not trying to cross promote and by way of disclosure I have held both OXR/OZL, SAU for a long time and until recently was a long term holder of BHP.
