IMO it is a matter of sentiment at the time of the consolidation as to whether the market rates the company favourably or negatively.

If the company is being viewed in a positive way at the time, as a result of conclusions drawn from announcements made at the time of the vote, then the consolidation will be viewed positively and the share price will move accordingly.

If there is negative sentiment, possibly caused by a lack of news, then the share price will fall.

It is that simple in my view.
