In earlier times ( when detectors first arrived) I walked many miles ( hundreds ?) armed with a MD never found any gold but a lot of interesting artifacts, photographed many birds, and native orchids, and I still think of those walks of an earlier time with very fond memories, even without finding gold
But then I remember going out to shoot rabbits for the farm dogs and not coming home with any after many hours, just walking and observing
