Was looking for school’s of Mullet with a friend on Wednesday when we came upon this young sea lion.
Parked the car a couple of metres from it and hoped that it would Spring back to Life as they often do.
After throwing a couple of handfuls of sand at it I noticed a slight tremor in its belly and half a minute or so later the belly quivered (ever so slightly) again.
Rang the local Head Park Ranger to inform him that the sea lion appeared to be Not Well.
I’ve come across similar beasts on the beach and they generally Explode back to Life in a blink when a person gets close.
That’s why I called the Ranger, this little fella was very lethargic.
Happy ending though, turns out it was just a really lazy bugger (like me)
