We get the white and red tailed ones in the SW corner of WA.
I don’t know if they occur naturally in other states?
I mostly see the Carnaby’s in Perth and north of Perth most weeks.
They require very large holes in trees to nest and there has been a program of installing large breeding boxes in rural areas around here to increase their numbers.
After seeing what the can do to pine cones, I wouldn’t put one on my arm though
