The chunkier piece which holds more soil seems to be doing okay or perhaps it is just that the plant suits the position better?
Bottom pic is the wire weed I use to make the sausage and the thin gauge wire I bind it with, I’m really happy with how resilient the wire weed is to soil/moisture.
