Mermaid Marine are known to be low key in the way they report to the media
So I thought these snippets of information may interest shareholders of the company
Below is a list of some of the smaller project activity that Mermaid have recently been involved in
Pluto Project - Pipelay support for Woodside
MMA provided a number of 250ft barges for pipe haulage and coordinated their towage and anchor handling from Malaysia to Dampier. A range of up to seven other Mermaid Marine vessels provided in field support and supply services
Mermaid Marine vessels also supplied the Allseas, McDermott and Aceergy scopes of work for construction of the Pluto pipeline, jacket and topside installation and subsea spool installations. MMA vessels then went on to support the hook up, commissioning and preservation stages
Angel Project - Towage and ancher handling for McDermott Industries
Mermaid Marine provided supply base services at its Dampier supply base as well as a full spread of vessels to conduct towage and anchor handling services in respect to multiple barge tows from Batam to Dampier. This included the provision of primary tow vessels and anchor handling infield barge tug support, crew transfers, HRV support and supply services.
Van Gogh Project - Pipe spool towage and load out for Acergy
Mermaid Marine provided supply base services and chartered the Mermaid Investigator, Mermaid Sentinel and Mermaid Constructor for towage and anchor handling services in respect of a pipe spool haul from Dampier to Henderson
Mermaid also contributed the pipe spool loadout and further towage operation to the Van Gogh Project site on the North West Shelf
Blacktip Project - Pipe haul operations for Saipan
MMA provided the Mermaid Guardian and the Mermaid Endeavour for towage and anchor handling operations in respect of two 280ft pipehaul barges between Darwin and the Blacktip Project site
Ocean Bottom Cable Operations for Geokinetics
MMA continue to coordinate an Ocean Bottom Cable fleet of three vessels for Geokinetics in Angola. This includes the operation of a cable laying vessel with DP11 technology, and accomodation vessel and a gun boat
Mermaid Marine has a further two vessels contracted to Geokinetics to begin work in April 2010
Further to this Mermaid Marine have submitted a tender for the Kipper Project. Submissions close this Friday 26th of March. Normally a response to the submissions takes six to eight weeks.
If Mermaid are successful in their tender, work could begin in 3rd/4th quarter calender year 2010
Supply Base - Dampier
Currently Mermaid Marine are employing approximately 140 person on their Dampier Supply Base.
As the momentum of Gorgon builds, tonnage going through the base will increase substantially.
As far as the maximisation of the supply base is concerned, free space is hard to come by. I would not be surprised if BGC who operate a quarry directly behind the Dampier Supply Base, make some of their unused land available, MMA would come running to take up the offer
Talk of expanding the wharf to accomodate more vessels is a fast approaching option. There is a possibility of reclaiming some of the ocean and doing land fill.
As new projects come on stream in the Browse Basin and exploration activity picks up the Broome Supply Base will drive ever increasing profits into the bank accounts of all long term investors of this quiet achiever
I hope some of the above information is of benefit to the forum
