If management knew of material information and failed to disclose it in a timely manner to shareholders, that is a clear breach of the ASX listing rules. In situations like this, shareholders can get together and launch a class action to compensate for losses. Billabong is a great example of this, where shareholders are launching a class action for failure to release material information to the market.
