    Have seen these small units in HVN and thought one could be useful as it has wireless which means sort of portable if there are any open wireless points around (not Telstra controlled).
    One unit was loaded with a Linux o/s and others with Windows but if your not happy with a totally free o/s you could partition and add Windows to the Linux or just overwrite with Windows.
    Another option is to buy a unit with Windows but decline the General Licence Agreement and then you can get a refund for the value of the unwanted Windows.(It has been done)

    NB I believe these units no longer have hard drives that spin but are memory operated so may be more robust.
    Please add comments as I am still putting ideas together.
