I don't hold physical because;
Over the long term, physical theoretically will do nothing other than preserve your wealth (against the impact of inflation). Of course you could trade ETF's to speculate on short term moves.
Gold stocks-the right ones of course-have 2 very big advantages.
1. They have leverage to the gold price. For example, if the gold price rises 50% their profits and therefore share prices plus dividends may double or better.
That means you are doing much better than just protecting against inflation.
2. Organic growth. KGL offers huge organic growth which should lead to very strong earnings and a share price increasing by many multiples even with a flat gold price.
Gold stocks do come with risks so careful selection is very important.
