Before commercialising Novosorb, I'd like to see some evidence that it has commercial potential.
It has been, what, three and a half years since the deal with Medtronic was signed to develop bioabsorbable stents. In that three and a half year period, there has been NO announcement of any kind by Medtronic regarding the progress of research, start of human (or animal) trials, or indeed any mention whatsoever that they are working seriously with this material. One of the talking points of Metabolic was that the time to market for bio materials was shorter and simpler for devices than for pharmaceuticals. Really.
It has been been two and a half years since the partnering deal with Biomet was announced, with a similar dearth of news regarding progress of any kind.
And, one and a half years since the Smith and Nephew deal was announced. But you wouldn't know it if you went to the Smith and Nephew website and looked for any news release, any promotion, or any words at all that even recognize the existence of NovoSorb or PolyNovo.
Even the Joint Venture with John Greenwood for the development of products for wound management and EASE for simple burns and small wounds was signed three years ago with a press release that showed a roadmap to commercialisation of that showed first in man human trial beginning witin two years. Did that happen? I think not.
So, where is all this? The public simply does not know. Are there problems with the material? The public simply does not know. All we know is nothing seems to be happening and nobody's talking.
It's no wonder folks aren't too interested in buying this pig in a poke.
Before much happens with this stock, there has to be some news of progress, and an explanation of why progress on every front has not met expectations.
Before commercialising Novosorb, I'd like to see some evidence...
