quite simply your assertion is wrong and you miss the gist of what I'm saying: how do you beat someone that pops you in the back of the head from point blank range? you can't! Now the yanks will no doubt be committed enough to pop them back when intelligence permits but one thing's for sure it won't be enough to get a rig in there. Sure the oil still flows in Iraq but the thing there is that it already was (no wildcat drilling over there), never mind the fact about 100k more troops are on the ground there. To compare the war on terror with the wars of old is simply folly because the fight isn't against a sovereign nation where some politician simply says we surrender, you're fighting a belief that doesn't have borders and surrender is not an option.
In regards to the armed forces: I have two cousins: one army and one air force: the former has been to East Timor and Afganistan and the latter Iraq. Then there's the history of Uncles in Vietnam and a
Grandfather in WWII. Far be it from me to call them less than brave.
