Hi Doc,
Directors don't really get elected - more a case of get yourself appointed and then the AGM rubber endorses it with an election... The ex-BHP flavour to the board is relatively recent.
Bloking was appointed to the board as a non-executive director in Feb 2008, as Whitby stepped up to Chair and Jocot up to MD. He subsequently stepped in to the Chair in May 2009 as Whitby stepped aside. He was elected May 2008, and May 2010.
Ollis was appointed as non executive director Oct 2011. He was elected in May 2012.
Byrne was appointed as COO in Nov 2011 and appointed as MD on Jocots departure in June 2012.
All three have a heavy BHP aspect to their career - fine if we want to import a BHP culture in to NDO but not so good if we want to avoid group think in the board room. Also fine if the network can land BHP as a farminee on suitable terms but not so useful if we want a network that can reach out to the biggest audience of appropriate farm-in partners.
Byrne and Ollis have both been appointed long after Tindalo and shortly after Gindara.
I have no issue with Gindara. You win some, you lose some - nature of the game.
Tindalo may be a different matter. The only accounting for what happened at Tindalo was in the Chairmans address on May 24, 2011 AGM (having apparently only been briefed himself on the morning of the meeting).

This was of course the first AGM at which Michael Pope had put himself forward as a candidate (after having been permanently silenced on HC under threat of legal action). We never heard the lessons learned from Tindalo mentioned again and thereafter the wagons started to be drawn up in a circle - my interpretation of the ex-BHP bloc.
Q3, Q4 2010 is such a long time ago. As damaging as it was, we should be able to let Tindalo go - a harsh lesson learned. Perhaps we would have let go by now if the right messages had come through.
