psi81 I bow to your superior knowledge of the Mining Process but I have been led to believe from info on LNC and other sites that indeed the coal is "Ignited" ind the coal "Combusts" controlled by the mixture of air and or oxygen pumped down with water. The diagram on their web site clearly shows a "Combustion Chamber glowing orange hot!
Maybe I have misinterpreted it all? Anyway the main point is that CTP coal should be siutable for UGC regardless of depth. Cheers Don
