I am no expert whatsoever, but business is business.
If they want to give their company some foundations they have to stand on their own 2 feet, otherwise they would be too reliant on the "big boys". If they know they are going to be, or want to be taken over, they need to make the company as attractive as they can. But if they want to avoid being taken over they need to move forward and not rely on the "bigs boys".
All just my opinion.
