No not really as the Asx usually provide a copy of the company's request which gives an indication of what the th is for ie partnership, capital raising, drill results, etc.
If it was a takeover for instance ,upon ann of an offer the company would have to put in a trading halt straight away and then conduct dd on its legitimacy before releasing the offer in greater detail.
Note the last TH had an explanation...
"The trading halt is requested pending an announcement in relation to the out licensing of ATL1103;"
