when a big dump of new shares (CR) is distributed by sophisticated market actors it isn’t a simple X number of shares are sold equivalent to Y number of new issue. The shares will pass back and forth from on hand to the other dragging new (largely retail) players into the mix. To sell millions of shares sometimes means churning tens of millions.
