Something else I've noticed is a large number of articles not focusing on specific MIGS procedures but more generally about "interventional glaucoma management." As a reminder, this refers to the shift away from decades of eye drops as the first line treatment and towards earlier intervention via MIGS, as a result of both the negative side effects and low compliance associated with eye drops, and the high efficacy and safety associated with MIGS. It seems that this trend is really being pushed now, with many magazines publishing articles on it and it has been a major topic at all the recent ophthalmology conferences. The larger companies in the MIGS space are clearly investing 10s and even 100s of millions of dollars into pushing this shift, but the best bit is that EYE will likely benefit the most from all the dollars being spent by competitors. This is considering that the promotional campaign for interventional glaucoma management is focused on encouraging MIGS use generally to develop the market, and so the articles and presentations tend not to focus on specific devices but rather the benefits of earlier intervention. As iTrack Advance is best suited for earlier intervention (only device that does not tear or stent), it is likely that the wave of new adopters of MIGS technology will favour our device, given they are seeking the least invasive procedure possible, but without compromising on safety and efficacy.
So our competitors are essentially doing most of the hard work (in terms of $$$) for us, and are developing a massive market which will inherently favour the least invasive procedures like iTrack Advance. No one who has recently been diagnosed with glaucoma would want a stent put in their eye, not until they've had to suffer decades of drops and are willing to try anything to get off them, but a simple and fast procedure that works by clearing out the drainage system and restoring the natural function of the eye is significantly easier to swallow for a new glaucoma patient.
