That isn’t true. Someone on one of the other threads brilliantly compared the interim analyses to an ODI cricket match where you are batting second and chasing 300 odd. If you make 2 runs an over for the first 10 overs then you could still win, but if you do it for 45 overs then you can’t.
using that analogy you can see that passing the interim analysis at 30% recruitment doesn’t prove efficacy at all. But failing at a later analysis suggests the ‘run rate’ / mortality reduction was too low all along
