Bricks and Mortar Banks that have Failed:

Bank of Adelaide (the original), The Federal Deposit Bank, The Government Saving Bank, The Primary Producers Bank, State Bank of South Australia, State Bank of Victoria.

There are just as many if not more that have had runs on them only for the Commonwealth Bank (later the Reserve Bank), respective state governments or other banks to step in and directly guarantee deposits, arrange financing, mergers or sales to prevent them collapsing.

For example Rural and Industries Bank of WA nearly went under in the early 1990s but, the WA government stepped in to guarantee deposits.
