this is a good move. NAB just released their tap on phone solution but it is only for android (called easy tap - see https://www.nab.com.au/business/payments-and-merchants/nab-easy-tap). Quest has had one in the market for a while (https://airpaytap.com/) and i was involved in some large concepts around this solution. they key to NOVs deal is that it seems they can operate on iphone devices. this is significant as iphone was claiming IP over the solution which scared most providers to go android only.

imo, Tyro isnt the competition here nor is Zeller. tbh, i dont really see where Zeller fits in the market and think their valuation is bordering insanity. The competition is more like square and papal who both offer small devices for mobile (ie, a tradie, or someone without a store - taking payments on the run). it is yet to be seen whether consumers feel confident tapping their card on ither peoples phones - i know some in the industry have doubts. the good thing aout tap on phone is thst it negates the cost of a terminal and carrying an extra piece of hardware around.
