The trouble with politics is that just about all who are in it are corrupt to varying degrees - evil is evil. There used to be a saying that in Russia (or China) you can vote for as long as it's communism and in our system you have a choice between liberal and labor.

The lines between labor and liberal are blurred when it comes to some policies as there appears to be not a great deal of difference. The only ones that may make a real difference are some independents - but then independent to a point, since they are offered carrots to sway them one way or the other when it comes to holding the balance in close elections though I agree on the need for more independents. The whole political arena needs a complete overhaul to rid of corruption - but not likely to happen - corrupt politicians always want to hold on to power and it would take monumental effort to rid of such.

The politics are often fraught with popularity contests - so called charismatic looks overlooks what's behind the scenes and hidden agendas. Kissing babies and highly polished public speaking performances to gain the public vote with the masses with poorly thought out policies or promises of blue skies and dangling carrots with poor delivery records and hiding behind - oh we didn't realize how dire the last lot let down the country and unfortunately we need to renig on promises made - time and time again - lie after lie - and yet many still trust in such and just accept.

The next election sure to provide more of the same - irrespective of whether it's Liberal or Labor - they both start with L and both have a string of failures as long as a list of side effects of many drugs - perhaps longer. In the end it's the average person that suffers - does anyone truly believe that any have your best interests at heart - if there are such, they're rare as hen's teeth. AIMHO
