a) That rival glue and whoever chooses to use it is going to have to climb a mountain of patents to do the same thing.
b) There might "another" way of achieving better efficiency, of course, but at the moment it doesn't exist. (viz, "maybe one day someone will invent time travel and then cars will be useless", et al)
c) If such a thing did exist, then it would have to go through the same de rigour testing, negotiations etc as ADO is going through.

What you're implying, illogically, I may add, is that someone's brother-in-law is gonna rock up to Philips and say, "hey, I whipped this nano glue up in my backyard, I happen to have 2 tonnes of it ready, can we whack it into production tomorrow?"

The same things that block ADO are the same things that will stop this from happening.

But if you know of such a company, let me know and I'll sell my ADO shares and pump it into that.
